In celebration of Literature Xchange 2026, Roberta’s Society and Undertow Collective invites you to a session featuring six international writers and artists who will present a performative reading on Roberta’s Stage. The group has previously performed at Aarhus Women Write and brings extensive experience in creating immersive, collaborative literary experiences, allowing audiences to fully engage with text, voice, and space.

What will happen?

SUBmerged (by the Undertow Collective)

SUBmerged is a collaborative performative reading exploring water, the central theme of the 2026 Literature Xchange festival in Aarhus, through its metaphysical and metaphoric dimensions. Six international writers and artists trace shared character archetypes and common themes, gradually being submerged – by expectation, memory, womanhood, work, desire, and water itself.

The structure mirrors the movement of water: separate streams merging into a single body. Individual pieces synchronize, overlap, and echo one another, creating moments of confluence where identities blur and collaboration becomes visible. Through layered voices and interwoven acts, the ensemble becomes a shifting body of water – at times turbulent, at times still – enacting collaboration as a process of immersion, risk, and renewal.
